Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon is the largest city in Vietnam. It was once known as PreyNokor, an important Khmer sea port prior to annexation by the Vietnamese in the 17th century. Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French Colony of Cochin-China and later of the independent State of South Vietnam from 1955 to 1975. In 1976, Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Dinh Province and was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City (although the name Saigon —formally known as District 1— is still commonly used). The city center is situated on the banks of the Saigon River, 60 kilometers 37 miles) from the South China Sea and 1,760 kilometers (1,094 miles) South of Hanoi, the Capital of Vietnam.
Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat airport, meet by our representative and transfer to hotel for check-in . A Short sightseeing tour of Ho Chi Minh City : Lam Son Mosque , The Hundred Years Red Cathedral (Notre Dame Cathedral) , The Old Post Office and The People’s Committee Hall , free time for shopping at Ben Thanh Market. Dinner.
After breakfast, a one and a half hour drive takes you to Cu Chi where human knowledge has been enriched by experiencing an web-like tunnels system of more than 200km in length which used to be the shelters of guerrillas during the war against American troops. Return to Ho Chi Minh for lunch. Then visit Cho Lon Mosque – this is the most crowded Mosque in Saigon, built in 1932 by Indian Muslims, pray Zuhr here, the famous lacquer ware factory and the handicraft center, shopping at Ben Thanh Market. ( LATE DINNER )
After breakfast, a two hour drive to My Tho will expose the colorful outskirt life as well as picturesque rice fields along the journey. Upon arrival, get on a boat trip up Mekong River stop at Thoi Son island to visit honey-bee farm, coconut candy workshop. Then taste seasonal fruits, enjoy traditional folk songs at local people house. Walk along the village to see the authentic life of the local and challenge your bargaining power at cottage handicraft shops. An adventurous sampan ride in palm shading creeks will be the next experience of the riverside region. Lunch and pray Zuhr . Then return to Saigon, shopping at Binh Tay Market or Danny silk factory in China Town. After that, keep going to hotel. Dinner.
After breakfast, free time until transfer to airport for departure flight and with a sweet memories.
